Before the Guru’s Grace brings one to Satsang

It is working in the person’s life by manifesting in them

the many signs or qualifications that appear

as they become more and more ripe for Freedom,

as the veil of illusion gets thinner and thinner.

The most important qualifications are Holiness

and Brahmajignyasa, a burning desire for Freedom.

Next is Vivek, the ability to discriminate

the Real from unreal, the eternal from the transient,

and Peace from suffering.

This is followed by Vairagya, dispassion and renunciation

of the unreal transient world of sense objects.

Other signs include humbleness, stillness, a dharmic life,

a healthy body, inquiry, devotion, and ashimsa or non-violence.

All of these signs are aspects of one thing:

The immanence of Self revealing Self to self.

These symptoms arise on their own.

Don’t be fooled and focus on them.

Focus incessantly only on Self.
